And now the livestream has been deleted by YouTube before I had a chance to do a screen recording of the last 15 minutes or so. The clips that are out there now only have the last 2 or 3 minutes which doesn’t show all of the context. I hope someone has saved it!

Oh, of course, I know! I posted the sounding as a bit of self-deprecating humor. I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a unit conversion error or something like that somewhere that crept in when I wasn't looking

And the initial file reading issues I was running into were upstream from the plotting issue anyway. In any case, I'll update this thread once I get a chance to figure it out!

At this point it could be a number of things. I doubt it's MetPy FWIW, because I've been using it for plotting soundings in another context and haven't run into an issue like this. It may be as simple as some legit change that I forgot about because I haven't used this particular code in a while.

No, I didn't see that, thanks! But to be clear, I was referring not so much to the python code here but to something in how the RAP GRIB2 files were structured. Although, I'm not 100% sure yet; it could be either or both.

I agree with you, except that I would just remove the "in compiled languages" part ;) Working with GRIB2 is messy full stop.

Things aren’t looking good…

lol, the same happened to me. I was about to pack it in, saw more reds appearing on the drive home, and stopped just in time for the best show of the night!

By far the most vivid display I have ever seen. These photos closely approximate the actual visual experience.

Extremely vivid even from my house with streetlights everywhere.

Was that in my Mesoscale class by any chance?

Has Trump been listening to too much ICP or something? (Might explain a lot, come to think of it...)
