Eurgh, what a horrible day of sport. I thought that League Cup game against Palace would be the worst I saw us this season, but this has genuinely topped it. No pace, no creativity, no ideas.

I always try to be positive but genuinely don't know where we go from here.

🏏 What a frustrating score to have woken up to. For the batters to have melted down again after that fantastic bowling performance is a waste. And Australia aren't gonna let the opportunity slip twice.

If it wasn't for The Elephant In The Room, these would be perfectly reasonable rule changes, and I'm delighted to have juries back in the semis. But while the 🐘 remains, it all feels inadequate, because nothing here will actually stop the manipulation.
Changes to the Eurovision Song Contest voting framework will be introduced for Vienna 2026:

Clearer rules around promotion, fewer maximum votes, juries returning to the Semi-Finals, and enhanced technical safeguards to be implemented ahead of May.

Also see that thanks to my tactical sleep Crawley at least at the decency to wait until the *end* of the first over to get out 🙄
The Ashes start tonight! 🏏 And in a few weeks I'll be there watching it myself!

But while I'm committed enough to fly to the other side of the world, I'm not staying up until 2.30am to watch first ball. Did that last time & Rory Burns was out immediately for a golden duck. Better for us if I don't.

🏏 I wake up, we're all out and the Aussies are 0-1. Gonna be one of *those* series then.

Know this is an early shout, but does anybody has a spare ticket for Eurofest on Jan 23rd? Gonna be in London that weekend now, so might as well make a party of it if I can!

Only turned on the Scotland game to have on while I went through my Spanish revision. Obviously got caught up in all the drama 30 seconds later by the first goal. WHAT a game!

A week into Lux life and I managed to get my hands on a vinyl copy, which arrived yesterday. So three extra songs to discover!

Went to see Kneecap last night. Another incredible show by the band, who don't forget to direct focus on the right things.

Also, there's surely not a better city to see them in in the UK than Liverpool.

I am so bored of being a stuck record, but jfc public transport round Liverpool+Wirral is SO bad.

Bus from mine to town takes 15 minutes - if it turns up. Which after 4pm is a very, very big IF.

And it doesn't apparently matter to Arriva if they leave people standing in the cold, dark and rain.

I feel like music is at an interesting point right now. Maybe because the industry is fucked so making money doesn't happen in the same way (if at all), but more artists seem happy to do what they want, not just what's expected. This track is a great example. I love it!

FYI anyone who thinks Kazakhstan are gonna enter Eurovision next year 🙄 although given the way things are looking it wouldn't surprise me if the EBU bent over backwards to accommodate this too.
Kazakhstani lawmakers have passed legislation banning "the propaganda of pedophilia and non-traditional sexual orientation." Violators of the new "gay propaganda" ban would face up to 10 days in jail. The Senate and president still need to approve it. mazhilis.parlam.kz/ru/all-bill/...

Almost got through a full term of Spanish without the teacher working out that my approach to grammar is mostly just to wing it. But tonight I think he clicked it and I fear many verb tables are in my future.

I'm afraid we're multiple listens per day in and dangerously close to this album becoming (however temporarily) my whole personality.
Today in "albums which surprise me by delivering so much more than I expected". Fascinating mix of classical (basically opera at points), flamenco + more contemporary sounds. Gonna take a few listens to decide exactly what I make of this but on first listen it's a win.

We were bad. We had bad luck at points. Both things can be true and one doesn't excuse or nullify the other. Most important thing is that the back room do some serious, urgent analysis and come up with solutions.

We are not going to win the lot in May.
Not getting carried away or anything like, but if we win again on Sunday I'm backing us to win the lot in May.

Whew, the Kenny Dalglish documentary. You know what's coming towards the end, but it still hits like a train wreck.

A great study of the man and his context, as Kapadia's docs usually are. Have a feeling that in the UK it'll have a singularly Red audience, but would recommend it to everyone.

Thanks Bluesky people for getting me to watch #CelebrityTraitors! I've never watched the regular one, coz I'm truly terrible at keeping up with shows. But when EVERYONE was talking about Ep 1 I had to give it a go, and have just had so much fun watching!!

Wirtz incredible. Bradley amazing. Robbo showing once again why he deserves his place. Macca back to her best. To be honest, nobody across the pitch put in a performance that was less than 8 out of 10. 🔴
