I just retrieved a box from my mother's stash that contains two finely woven wool blankets. There's a note that says my grandmother and her mother wore them in the house during the Winter of 1914 when they couldn't get coal. Could be a whole new line for Patagonia.

In all the terrible, horrible episodes in this ongoing saga there has never been a strategy - never. Why would there be one now? You'd need a countable infinity of monkeys on typewriters to come up with that scenario.

Eh, we're the closest place to a lot of things, esp if you consider currents and seasonal prevailing winds. Lots of people who live here came by way of getting washed up on the Bold Coast "from away".
