One change I've made this year that is really helping my #productivity is allocating time for everything and keeping Inbox 0.

I spend the first hour of my day answering everything that can be answered fast, and reserving time in my calendar for anything else, then snoozing the email until that […]

Instead of reciprocal tariffs, Europeans should announce they will no longer honor US patents and copyrights. Or, wouldn't honor US intellectual "property" on its current absurd terms.

Tariffs on US goods would hurt European consumers. Dispensing with copyrights and trademarks from the US […]

I just heard about two accounts cloning my account and impersonating me on mastodon.social - I definitely do not have an account there. If you have been pinged by them as well, please report them to your instance.

I'm trying a Sonoff NSPanel Pro as a control surface for our #homeassistant system. It's working well. It's using Android as its OS (sadly a closed downstream of AOSP). What particularly surprised me is it has @fdroidorg as its app store.

I'm helping an elderly person with a patient portal, and wow, there are about 4 different problems ranging from unclear instructions to pages that don't work well when the phone is zoomed in enough for an older person to actually read the text.

Plus, the iPhone keeps popping up unhelpful gunk […]

And here we are: the entire transatlantic alliance is now talking about Greenland, instead of talking about ending the war in Ukraine.

The latest #yougov poll shows to what extent the worst rightwing propaganda has created an artificial urban/rural divide that has convinced many that large (and mostly liberal) cities are unsafe places because of their diversity.

Not only Americans have been […]

My favourite follow this week: @bbcnews which is an unofficial automated post every three hours of the news headlines derived from the chyrons under the main BBC news. About as much as I can take at the moment.

I often hear Americans & rich brits justify buying oversized, polluting vehicles by claiming they need them because they live in the "countryside".

I call bullshit, Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce, the Citroen C15⬇

Still digging around in storage and I just found a box of big-button phones used by various family members. I've added them to #flohmarkt on OWF so please respond there.

I just found a sack in the attic containing all my old coax #networking cables, connectors and terminators. Can anyone suggest a useful destination for it other than the local municipal #recycling centre here in the UK?

As ever in January, Element lit up like a Christmas tree on my phone as all the #matrix invites for #fosdem came in this evening. Feels vaguely festive.

Occasionally as a litigator you run across an opposing party who repeatedly breaches contracts and settlement agreements and legal requirements — just never abides by them. Generally competent lawyers point out that you shouldn’t do business with or enter contracts with that person.

Insist on open source; use Open Standards; invest in UK and European tech expertise. This kind of approach does not disbar US corporations, but it can level the playing field between government, US big tech and other tech providers.

The UK is woefully slow on the #digitalsovereignty debate. While the problem of dependence on US Tech is understood at political level in Denmark, Germany and France, the UK is not yet having the discussion.

The #eu still has numerous levers to reduce the likelihood of invasion. What matters is that we start pulling them as soon as possible.
