Globally, #climate harms follow patterns. The elderly, the sick, marginalized communities, and the poor are consistently at greater risk.

Vulnerability isn’t just exposure, it’s embedded in infrastructure, policy, and social support systems that fail to protect certain groups.

"The global economy, in its current form, will only ever serve a tiny minority. And it will always do so at the expense of the planet and the vast majority of people who live on it."
#Poverty and the #ClimateCrisis won’t be solved by doubling down on economic growth.

This #ReclaimTheEconomyWeek, I argue in TIME for moving beyond the growth orthodoxy still defended at #Davos and towards new development models that put people and planet first.

Economic Growth at Any Cost Fails Us All
We saw this paradigm at Davos last week, as leaders talked up growth. But that fails the planet and the world’s poorest.

Dr. King believed our democracy would only make sense when every child was fed, every mind was educated, and every community had dignity and freedom.

That vision is still unfolding. So, on this MLK Day, let us recommit to the work of building the world he dared to imagine.

SNAP benefits are currently being held hostage by the Trump administration and their fate now lies with the Supreme Court.

Beneath the legal arguments are real people who simply need food—a former federal worker, a single mother of 4, a disabled man. I spoke to them. Here are their stories:

Plastic pollution is a climate injustice issue. It leaches to soil and water, evaporates to air. Through our inhalatory pathways, it enters our brain and lungs, and it impacts our DNA. Poor people are exposed to more plastic pollution than rich people.
