Let’s talk about “woke.” You mean like this? 1860. What’s old will be new again.

What’s #japan without an amazing bamboo grove? And the scent of bamboo… peace.

So I’m walking through Tachikawa Japan one day and see these two figures completely dedicated to being well-dressed… maybe Fox and raccoon(?). No audience. Just doin their thing.

Wind down with some imagery. I played around with revealing actual colors in a decolorized photo.

The Nazis and KKK learned to put on suits and ties, and code, and hack, and target. If you want some inspiration, watch Darkest Hour, followed by Dunkirk. Think of our Ukrainian allies, then understand we’re at war. Know we will need to sacrifice.

There were times when constant work and feelings of isolation drove me to black and white photography… but every now and then, color would creep in. Eventually color came back to my life, but that’s later in the story.

I watched my son learn kindness and cooperation in Japan. We were blessed to find a public school that continued that in the US, with support from the US Department of Education for English as a Second Language.

The winding path can be intentional, and harmonious.

A well cultivated life, and society, requires attention, being present, and taking all surroundings into account. Order is not the goal, but balance, flow and appreciation of now.

Last post for the night, because this is how I feel in this MAGA Heritage Foundation Russian bot farm engineered theofascist dystopian playbook dominating our timeline. The photo is out of time sequence, but it will be my sign off on many nights. Stay strong.

Another flower in Japan. I’ll share flowers from my home in the US, but I do want to pay respect to the cultivation of Japan, the attention to detail and deep internalization of honor as expressed through every action. Through such cultivation we can all appreciate the best of what nature can bring.

I always liked this photo because Japan is full of tension between old and new. Deeply sexist and racist in some parts (Steve Bannon studied Abe for some ideas) but also capable of building on lasting progressive egalitarian principles. I love Japan, even though they piss me off sometimes.

A flower in Japan. I start with a lot of black and white. Mood.

Bamboo forest in Japan. Cultivated and preserved.

Hmmm, so it seems Flashes needs content, so I’m gonna drop essentially all my photography there. It’s a moody ride through global changes covering work moves, divorce, pandemic, job changes, new love. Hope yall enjoy. I refuse to give my work to Meta anymore.

What strikes me about Montreal is the seemingly effortless blend of old and new. I will learn French, out of love and respect.

Montreal is epic.

#kingstonontario has a small 6 MW wind farm that has nevertheless generated over 48 GWh of power since being built. Ontario as a whole has nearly 4 nuclear power plants worth of wind power generation. Love to see them in the mornings.

Community fun for all ages at a free public drag show for charity. No big deal, just joy of flamboyant performance. Check out the dancing grannies! #kingstonontario

The middle class was strongest when we taxed the rich. That’s the biggest reason why at least white Americans think of the 50s. Now we need to reclaim control from private equity and real estate aristocrats.

While I’m thinking about techno-Jacobites, I’m reminded of the beauty of the world they want to destroy for their theofascist imbecility.

If you don’t know the word Jacobite, learn it. Then understand techno-Jacobite.
