How do those ardent Christians celebrating Advent feel about this naked racism, the same racism that would’ve kept THEIR ancestors out of the US because people called them garbage? If the language isn’t acceptable to apply to Italians, Irish, Polish, Greek, etc. it’s not acceptable for anyone.

The racism is so out in the open right now that those who espouse this nonsense try to make it seem as though it’s suicidal to NOT think this way. Just substitute any white European nationality for Somali and say the same sentences aloud. This. Is. Racism.

Leaders have said this about so many of our ancestors. The hate & contempt with which American leaders treat immigrants from different nations has echoed current-day immigrant hate. But the pro-deportation crowd doesn’t seem to recognize the hypocrisy when it came to THEIR immigrant relatives.

Good God. When he was attacking the prior president as being “sleepy” he was so obviously projecting. Get him a Red Bull.

We need to return to where we all started: local news. When the quality of the local news erodes, we become less connected to one another as a community. When my local paper (owned by a corporate chain) stopped regularly covering my town, leaving it without real news coverage, I felt less connected.

I frequently ask my journalism students about the way stories are narratively framed and whose POV is emphasized. It’s stunning when comparing coverage of one topic across a multitude of professional news sites/outlets. Bad headlines & social media posts exacerbate bad takes.
