I find it curious how the 90s was less franchise frenzy han the 80s. Not just in the top box office, but also smaller franchises like Police Academy died during the 90s.

Then the 2000s came and everything had to be a trilogy and in the 2010s everything had to be a cinematic universe.

That's a bit unfair. In Spain those criminals had 40 years of a head start to control the judiciary. You can't expect every criminal to have a decades long dictatorship to do the job for you.

Similar to this, the shot of the AT-ST tripping on the logs is one of the most baffling special effect shots in the original trilogy to me. The logs are not stop motion, but they look like they react to the weight of the legs. The animation of the AT-ST is flawless. And all of that with dust around.

Fuck, that's rough. At least you see it, which is not a small thing, even if it's difficult to escape.
