Hmm there's definitely a temperature parameter for the Claude models: platform.claude.com/docs/en/api/...

What makes you think the systems aren't using the temperature that's being specified? I've experimented with this before, and the outputs are clearly very different at different temperatures.

We're working on a paper where we're generating stories with many models at different temperatures. We wanted to try temperatures below and above the defaults, but the Claude models make that tricky!

Lol. But the max temperature is actually 2 (through the API, etc.). My point is mostly that Claude is set at its max temperature, and you can't go higher. I never realized that before.

Oh interesting. So you make the repo, and then the students add their files to it?

Yeah good call — sometimes I forget about those resources! Have you used your university’s web hosting?

Yeah they could—that's a good point. But I don't really introduce GitHub fully in this class. It's an introduction to R and data science for MLIS students (on the quarter system), and I don't really get into git/GitHub. Though maybe I should intro enough that they could at least do GitHub pages...

Also for context, here's what you used to be able to do with Chart Studio: melanie-walsh07.medium.com/sample-plotl...

UPDATE December 2024: Sadly, Plotly has decided to end the creation of new Chart Studio accounts, so the approach to embedding interactive…

Yesterday I introduced my students to Netlify, so they can host their Plotly visualizations somewhere on the web: app.netlify.com/drop

But you can't embed HTML files nicely in a Medium blog post, like you could with Chart Studio.
