Just returned home from an outstanding week of science in Utrecht at the 12th European Conference on Severe Storms organized by @essl-ecss.bsky.social! It was great to share our OT work as well as grow connections with our European colleagues! Thanks to all who made this possible!

10° temperature gradient in less than 20 mi between Rantoul and Savoy. Can really tell who had a brush with the earlier storms and who didn't #ILwx
Note these obs were taken ~20 mins apart but still a strong temp gradient within the county!

Very impressive #pyroCb/#pyrocumulonimbus plume from the Dollar Lake Fire this afternoon in Wyoming! It's currently stretching nearly the entire length of the state with activity still ongoing near the fire. #WYwx

TIL that double headed sunflowers are somewhat rare but it was so cool to see this and go to the sunflower maze! FT some distance storms tnat also gave us a nice light show
