i guess that’s why people work on ai even if they’re not that invested in ai itself as a tech or trick —it’s a stand in for politics and all sorts of other cultural things that are worthy and interesting!

i personally care less if individuals use ai for random things than i do about anyone trying to also make a case for it being good —like, it’ll make humans poorer, dumber, less healthy, angrier, and def more boring, even if it can output your homework or reference letter or whatever …

It makes me feel insane, because everyone seems to acknowledge that it's massively environmentally destructive and based on theft (just to start!) and yet they're also all terrified of being "left behind??" Like, girl, if these are the options, leave me behind, please

but students should learn AI at university ... but should probably not admit to using it because that is cheating, but cheating technology is the future skills they need, but also AI is just a tool?

also that what makes AI so great is that eventually it will replace workers altogether (so intelligent) .. and also that professor should not use AI to teach or research — professors who are workers, and increasingly tech workers but do not count as workers who should be using AI...
