Melancholy Jaques
@melancholyjaques.bsky.social
It is a melancholy of mine own, compounded of many simples,
extracted from many objects, and indeed the sundry's
contemplation of my travels, in which my often
rumination wraps me in a most humorous sadness.
Democrats did in fact impeach him. Republicans convince him to resign rather than face trial so that the facts would never be established and made known to all Americans. It was a backdoor deal, not a great thing.

My understanding is that they did not ask, they enacted a law that requires the full files.

My first year in college - 1977 Ohio State - one professor smoked in class and allowed students to do so.

Anyone ever tried writing the story from poor, miserable Mr Potter's point of view? Why is he in a wheelchair? Was he always so mean?

Yes!

Agree completely. All the changes of the last 100 years that made people's lives healthier, safer, fairer, and more prosperous were driven by Democrats and opposed by Republicans.

Other than the Civil War, when were we in a worse spot. I do not think "it's over" but I cannot think of a time when our democracy was been not just threatened, but abandoned by a large percentage of Americans. They do not want it anymore.

Ashtrays were everywhere. Almost every business gave away matchbooks.

Isn't he still very popular in Russia though?

Voters were pretty clear that honesty & trustworthiness were not qualities they valued. They wanted bigotry & cruelty.
December 20, 2025 at 2:42 AM
How 'bout now?
December 20, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Pretty clear you're not rational on the subject.

It's the time you put in. Keep at it.

Three absolutely essential feels-like-Christmas songs:

1) Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love
2) Merry Christmas Baby - Otis Redding
3) 2000 Miles - The Pretenders

Their hatred for the rest of us is what binds them
December 20, 2025 at 1:13 AM
I don't think any of us Democrats care that much about Bill Clinton anymore.

I see, you're the type who makes sure Democrats have no power, then insists that they must do things only the party in power can do. Please, just stop. You don't want things to get better. You want to stand aside & criticize & pose as the superior person. You are not part of any solution.

A) Personal attacks are generally an admission that you can't support your argument with facts. Biden was the most left president since LBJ. B) The poorly informed voters who determine election outcomes don't vote on policies. C) The choice is binary: it's the D or the R. Vote with that in mind.

That political will is the key. Focused & determined & persistent.
See, e.g., MADD.

I'm old enough to have smoked in movie theaters & airplanes. In retrospect, I can't believe we were allowed to do that.

Who are these "officials" that are scrambling to appease that asshole? What are their names & job titles?
December 19, 2025 at 10:10 PM
And you lose your cred when you accuse Democrats of chasing bigots' votes. Of the last four candidates, two are women, two are persons of color. Find an argument based in reality. 2/2
December 19, 2025 at 10:09 PM
The people waiting to be energized are childish. If keeping that asshole out of the White House didn't energize them, they either support him or are totally okay with him. No point talking to such people. 1/2

You're living in an imaginary world where Democrats consistently punch left & don't have any popular policies. Consider, too, that Democrats, when in power, struggle to get anything left-ish enacted because "the left" consistently stays home waiting for that oh so perfect candidate.
