Here’s another #WIPWednesday for my upcoming holiday fic.
"So," Lucius says, leaning on the desk and eyeing Ed far too suspiciously for this early in the morning. Ed's stomach sinks. He's already sure he knows exactly where this is going. "You wanna tell me about the hot Daddy you were eye-fucking all afternoon yesterday? Clearly you know him, right? Or am I delusional? Because I'm pretty sure I saw him eye-fucking you right back." Shit. That's... not good. Are they really that obvious? "What the fuck're you talking about, mate?" Ed says, screwing his brows up in what he hopes passes for genuine confusion. "We're just... old acquaintances." That's how Stede had introduced him to Mary, anyway. Old acquaintances. Someone he'd been "surprised" to run into and "excited" to catch up with again after finding out he owned the bed-and-breakfast. Ed just hopes Lucius buys the lie better than he buys it himself. "Right," Lucius says. " Old acquaintances." He even throws in air quotes, rolling his eyes so hard Ed's surprised they don't fall out. "Keep telling yourself that, babe." "Lucius, I've got a boyfriend," Ed reminds him, trying for firm but landing somewhere closer to tired. "And?" Lucius blinks at him like that's barely even a speed bump. "Babe, Fang doesn't mind bringing others into the equation. You know this, because I've tried to convince you to let me get in on that action. You're the one who's strictly monogamous. But hey—" he waves a hand, smirking, "you could always try something new?"

Here’s a little #WIPWednesday for my not-entirely-Hallmark-vibes Christmas fic that WILL have lots of cozy Christmas cottage vibes, while also bringing some drama, and a sprinkling of angst (with a happy ending of course). 😅
When Ed wakes the next morning, drifting up from sleep little by little, something feels… off. The room is quiet. Too quiet. Too still. His eyes flutter open, and that’s when he notices it… the space beside him is empty. He reaches across the sheets and finds them cold. Not recently-vacated cold—been-gone-for-a-while cold. His stomach twists, sharp and immediate. He pushes himself upright, listening hard. The bathroom door is closed, but the light’s off. No water running. No movement. Nothing. “Stede?” he calls out, voice cracking a little. Silence. Maybe he went to grab breakfast? Coffee? There has to be an explanation. Ed scans the room, hope already thinning out inside him… and that’s when he sees it. A folded note sitting on the bedside table beside his empty water bottle. His heart stops. Then races. He lunges for it, hands shaking as he flips it open, eyes trailing quickly over Stede’s handwriting. Dear Ed, Thank you for a lovely evening. You were… to put it simply… incredible. I’m so sorry to leave you with nothing but this note, but I’m a coward and couldn’t face saying goodbye. My life is… complicated, and I couldn’t drag you into that. I’m so sorry I left without saying goodbye. I fear leaving you will be a regret that follows me for a long time. But I didn’t know what else to do. I don’t know how to change it. Please know, the room is completely paid for, and I paid for an additional night, if you’d like to stay longer. I wish you all the best, and hope you figure out what you want to do. Whatever it is, I know you’ll be great at it. Thank you again, and goodbye. Stede ************ 20 years later…

Pulled this out, because I’m finished with all my current WIPs, and don’t have anything to work on. So this is the last call for anyone who would like to participate in the thank you book for DJ! Ignore the part about C2E2. That’s from 2024. 😅 I really need to get this done, lol.
Picture of the book I created to put thank you notes to DJ in. Project "Thank You Dad. " I'm putting together a "scrapbook," of sorts, to try to get to Dad. I want to make one of my notebooks and turn it into the scrapbook. I'm planning on bringing it to C2E2 to collect signatures/notes/pictures to put in it. If you're coming to C2E2, I'll have a little portable sticker printer we can print off 2x3" photo stickers to add to the notebook. It'll also be available for people to add a little note for David. For those not coming to C2E2, I am opening this up to you, as well. If you'd like to make a little note and send it to me digitally, or send me something physically to include in the scrapbook, you can DM me. The scrapbook will be 6x8 inches, so anything you send will have to be small enough to fit in those parameters. I can make it as many pages as I need, but the page size will be 6x8 inches.

Hey! So I wrote a follow-up to my Ruin the Friendship fic, because the ending has been sitting heavy with me for a while now lol. So, I wrote a fix-it fic! If you'd like to read it, I'm starting posting it! It's 7 chapters, and the entire thing is already written (a little under 15,000 words total).

I’m doing another thing, because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how I did Ed dirty in this fic and how much I made myself sob writing this. So here’s a little #WIPWednesday for my fix-it fic for my own fic, lol.
Grief is a fucking bitch. Ed knows that now in a way he wishes he didn't. He doesn't have to work anymore, not really. The restaurants have been doing stupidly well and the investors keep trying to throw more money at him but staying busy is the only thing that keeps his brain from eating itself. So he drags himself in every damn day, burying whatever's left of him in new recipes, new ideas, whatever might keep the memories quiet for a few hours. The problem is Izzy's going to murder him. "Edward, what the fuck is this?" Iz asks, arms crossed, eyes narrowed, standing in the doorway like a pissed-off gargoyle. Ed's halfway through a sauce, making an absolute disaster of the station, but he can feel it. He's close to something good... Something that doesn't hurt. Because those hazel eyes... that dimple... he hasn't let himself think about them too deeply in months, but tonight they keep surfacing anyway, soft and simple and warm. "Makin' a new menu, mate," Ed says as he drops scallops into butter, the pan hissing loud enough to drown out at least half of Izzy's screaming. "At one fuckin' thirty in the morning?" Izzy snaps. "Edward, they just finished cleaning the kitchen!" "Fuck off, Iz, l'll clean it when I'm done," Ed mutters, flipping the scallops, basting them like this is the only thing in the world that makes sense. Because maybe it is... Good food. That's all he's got left, really…

“Can you tell me about your hat?” Stede asks one early evening, just as the sun dips low on the horizon. Dust from the wagon train rises in the cooling air, dulling the brilliant streaks of orange and violet above them. They’re getting close to stopping for the night, but there’s still a stretch of road left, so Ed passes the reins into Stede’s eager hands, letting him lead. His palms are grateful for the break. He knows what Stede means, that he’s noticed the way Ed keeps the wide-brimmed hat close, always within reach. But instead of admitting it outright, Ed leans back against the bench as casually as he can. “What d’you mean?” he asks, feigning ignorance, though his pulse quickens. He doesn’t much want to dig into the history of the hat. Too many memories tangled up in it. But… maybe it’s something he can give Stede. Something true about his past, since he’s holding back so much. “You just… seem rather attached to it,” Stede says. “I thought there might be a story there.” The smile he gives Ed is so open, so disarming, that Ed feels the truth clawing its way up before he can stop it. With Stede looking at him like that, so gentle, curious, and unguarded, he thinks he’d confess to anything, even the darkest parts of himself. “It was the last gift my mum ever gave me,” Ed says, his voice rougher than he intends. He clears his throat, but the emotion still tightens it. “She was sick for a long time. I worked every job I could, scraped together what money I could manage to get her the care she needed, but… in the end, it wasn’t enough. So I dunno. I guess the hat just… means a lot to me.” Stede’s expression shifts. Ed braces for pity. That’s what people usually offer when he talks about his mother. But this isn’t pity. Not even close. The only word he can pin to it is care. Genuine, steady, unflinching care. Before he can say anything else, Stede pulls the reins sharply, guiding the wagon off the trail. The oxen shuffle to a stop, dust swirling around them in the cooling air. “Can I hug you?” Stede asks once the wagon is still. His voice is quiet, almost hesitant. Ed has never been so surprised, or so eager, in his life. The thought of Stede’s arms around him, right here, right now, even with his chest raw and his emotions spilling everywhere… It sounds like the most wonderful thing in the world. So he nods. And then Stede is leaning across the bench, pulling him close, arms wrapping firmly around his back. Ed sinks into the embrace, letting himself be held, and thinks—no, knows—this might just be the best hug he’s ever had.

Ed is jolted awake, his vision blurring on the white canvas of the wagon cover above him. The wheels rumble beneath, every bump rattling through his bones. He’s lying flat in the back of a wagon. What the hell is happening? “Stede?” His voice is hoarse, barely more than a rasp, panic edging into it. A hand closes firmly around his, warm and steady. Then Stede’s face swims into focus above him. Ed exhales, the sharp spike of fear easing just a little. “I’m here,” Stede says, his voice gentle but certain. “We’re taking you to a doctor, love.” Love. The word hums through him like the most beautiful of poems. He wants to believe he didn’t just imagine it, that Stede truly called him that. But the world tilts and spins, his stomach lurching. He squeezes his eyes shut, bracing for the sickness, until a cool draft fans against his face. Stede—fanning him, grounding him. Slowly, his vision steadies again. “I don’t want to die,” Ed whispers, so faint he doubts it even carried.
