When President Bacow stepped down the subject line was just “My plans”

They do deliver but the prices seem marked up vs. going in person, so it might neutralize some of the savings. Probably not all of it though, some of these discounts are very deep.

I am not sure if I’m brave enough to go to the Shoreline Costco on a bike just due to how car oriented the surroundings are, but I do think this is the ideal way to shop there for sure.

Saving $32 on 12 rolls of paper towels sounds great, but it is insane when you only paid $21 for those paper towels to begin with.

You can argue that the net savings (in money and time) of not paying for a car and/or renting a smaller place within walking distance of many grocery stores probably pencils for some people. It was hard to know until now because Costco’s own app’s prices are higher online than in the warehouse.

People who can’t access Costco or get the value from it because they either can’t drive or live in a very small home without extra storage space are genuinely being ripped off for some items. Not everything, but some stuff is marked up 3x+

For the exact same goods and quantities, comparing the minimal unit prices available at QFC of either the same brands or store-brand, it’s almost a 50% savings. We cleared the membership price ($65/year) in savings with like, 5 items.

As a non-driver, I am constantly floored by how much tech is in even relatively cheaper new cars these days. This car alerts when you’re not looking ahead / thinks you’re distracted, when there’s a risk of cross traffic collisions, and can read a No Turn on Red sign posted in front of you.

We walked like 20 mins each way to/from home today and saw this happen multiple times, btw. Looking at their phone *while going through an intersection* in a residential part of Seattle.

I used to be somewhat vaguely anti-self driving cars but the more I see drivers barreling through intersections in SUVs looking at their phones while kids are crossing the road the more I think…hell yeah, bring on the autonomous vehicles, at least they don’t watch TikTok.
