✨Books are my form of escapism✨
I loved the premise and the unique magic system! My only note was that I wish we got to know the two main characters more outside of their feelings for each other.

Never Whistle at Night an Anthology
✨✨✨✨/✨✨✨✨✨
I LOVE a good horror novel! Especially one that’s written from folklore that dates back centuries. Some stories left me questioning, some left me disturbed, and some left just plain terrified!

Becoming Abolitionists by Derecka Purnell
✨✨✨✨/✨✨✨✨✨
This book is a great introduction to prison reform written in an easily digestible format. Anyone who’s began their questioning of the United States’s criminal justice system definitely needs to pick this book up.

The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon
✨✨✨/✨✨✨✨✨
For me, what this book had was a reeling romance and a unique magic system. What it didn’t have was a ton of character development. I would have loved to know these characters outside of their opinions of their love interest.

Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu

✨✨✨✨✨/✨✨✨✨✨

This was a very quick read for me. It’s written as both vivid fiction and a film script that grabs you and takes you on a journey to Chinatown through the eyes actors living through the thinly veiled racism of Hollywood.
