I see. Is that because in the case of (...) Qg5+ Kh7 Rc3, there's f6/f5 to clear the second rank and block with the queen? I guess black can afford to give up the queen for a rook, given that white already sacrificed two bishops. It does make sense to play Qf6+ first and only then bring the rook.

Oh, that's interesting! I thought after Bxh7 Kxh7 Qh5 Kg8 Bxg7 Kxg7 Qg5 Kh7 that Rc3 or Rc4 would be winning. But I guess you use a completely different line, because here, Qf6 doesn't come with check. What is the solution? What's wrong with my line?

Yes. As far as puzzles go, this one is not particularly difficult 😅

Yes I see now. This exact position is different but it works here as well, since you get Rc4 or Rc3 at the end.

Oh is that Lasker vs Bauer? That’s a classic! 😁

I had the exact same idea 😅

Wow, congrats. This is very impressive! 😄

Ah yes, trade when ahead and avoid counterplay 😄

I assume we don’t allow Nf4+ so 1.exd5 Rxb5 2.Ne7+ and we win the bishop on c8.
October 25, 2025 at 8:01 PM
I think that’s a fair stance 😅

Obviously, in an actual game one should consider whether a particular pawn endgame might be not lost (or, dare I say it, won), when an opportunity arises to go for that pawn ending 😅😅😅

Stop playing blitz 😉

Your phone didn't search for "chess Sicilian Najdorf"?? Fake example 😅

Oh, I agree! You never know for sure whether they made a mistake. You can’t blindly believe them, even if they are a GM. If you did that then you might as well resign on move 1 😅
August 29, 2025 at 2:30 PM
If my opponent was a GM, I'd assume they had spotted Bxd8 and had something of a response prepared 😅 In this position, Bxd8 Nxf2 seems strong for black, as there is the threat of smothered mate and also the hanging queen. And white can't play Qd4 because of Bxd4.

I think 1.b4 as I explained further on the other site 😅
August 28, 2025 at 8:15 PM
I saw by now that Nxc6 bxc6 e5 leads to a very fine position 😅
August 27, 2025 at 4:00 PM
I think white can transpose into a typical Yugoslav Attack by playing f3-Be3-Qd2 and 0-0-0. The move Bc4 may have been premature though.
August 26, 2025 at 9:13 AM
It's probably Nh5, covering g7 and incidentally trapping the queen 😅
August 20, 2025 at 11:14 PM
I hope that's not your only condition for having fun 😅
August 20, 2025 at 11:13 PM
Good luck and have fun!!
August 19, 2025 at 3:47 PM
I mean, it’s difficult to make a move that doesn’t win in this position 😅

But for effectiveness, Qf5 forces mate in one.

Oh, via c8!
August 13, 2025 at 3:48 PM
Maybe Nc4-Nb6 to pressure d7?
