Don’t worry, the e-bike that did this isn’t allowed to go more than 15mph.

The only thing that makes this dystopian hell inevitable is acting like it's inevitable. There is no reason @nyc-dot.bsky.social needs to accept & encourage robot cars in our communities.

Maybe let's go all in designing NYC streets for people instead?

More than two dozen bikes at drop-off every day this week at my kid’s school. You love to see it.

Our next mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social should give @nyc-dot.bsky.social a mandate to quickly transform NYC into the safest city in North America for kids to bike. The demand is there & growing.

Private cars get the majority of space while everyone else (including bus riders) fight over what's left. Let's hope mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social takes up this issue with the urgency and at the scale that's needed (see: Anne Hidalgo/Paris).

My most memorable parking story is that time they repaved my street in Brooklyn and there were no cars parked on it for a couple days and we met a bunch neighbors across the street who we had never talked to before because the cars had always been in the way.
An absolutely gorgeous tree-lined block with not a single car in sight.

Can we talk about @mta.info MetroNorth’s spotty accommodation of bikes?

Why explicitly say a trip is “designed to allow extra bikes onboard” when there is literally no place to put bikes onboard?

Throw in apathetic & unhelpful conductors, and oof, pretty shitty experience all around.

Drivers of two cars and an MTA bus (!) running a red light and blocking a crosswalk, which, if they were riding bikes would land them in court. Same intersection, opposite light cycle: drivers of several other cars, plus a taxi, running a red light and blocking a crosswalk, which, if they were riding bikes would land them in court.

NYPD is out here criminalizing cycling. Meanwhile, pride of place on the street goes to drivers of vehicles (cars & trucks) that continually cause enormous harms, while safer more sustainable modes like cycling are pushed to the actual gutter. Upside down priorities in a broken system.
A standard NYC green-painted “protected” bike lane on the UWS with crumbling asphalt, smears of gross wet goo, and puddles of god knows what. Another section of the same UWS bike lane. This one is even narrower and hemmed in by a parked MTA bus. There’s an enormous puddle covering half the lane with a white plastic bag floating off to the side like a lost boat.
