PhD student in Quantum Information at the University of Waterloo, Institute for Quantum Computing, and Perimeter Institute!
Our tools are primed to study future quantum channel ensembles of interest, and to help assess error mitigation protocols.

Huge thanks to Diego, Zoe, Marco, and everyone at UW, IQC, PI, LANL, and EPFL! Pease reach out if you'd like to know more about the rich behaviours of random quantum channels!

After comparing these ensembles (using a novel basis for permutations!), we go on to study statistics of noisy random quantum circuits.

What has been previously thought of as noise-induced barren plateau phenomena, can be more generally thought of as channel design-induced concentration phenomena!

By computing properties of various ensembles ("Haar" ensembles of unitaries U(d), "cHaar" ensembles of quantum channels with respect to a variable environment C(d,d_E), and "Depolarize" ensembles of a single depolarizing channel D(d)), we are able to define novel notions of channel t-designs.

Although dyamics due to random unitaries have been well studied, dynamics due to random quantum channels have yet to be fully explored.

We develop several tools to exactly compute moment operators for ensembles of quantum channels, that fully capture all statistical information about these systems!
