WARNING: you should not go to cemeteries, because you will learn about history. For example, today I found out that in 1894 the governor of Illinois begged the president of the united states not to send in troops, that the Pullman strike and the ensuing riots did not need this added provocation and he was exceeding the bounds of the presidential office.

While the above is not word for word, it's very close---and Altgeld lays out his points for why such an action exceeds the power of the executive in a way that will make you feel....well, you should read page 9]

Fit check, & an autumn #beardwatch post. Had to trim up the chin whiskers last week, not that I minded the length but it was looking a bit unbalanced as just a mustache-and-goatee combo. The sides never seem to fill in but we'll leave it for a bit & see how it looks by year's end

I present: potato pizza. Sour cream, potatoes, green onions, bacon, & cheddar, baked on a pizza crust. There's no tomato sauce, in its place is the sour cream as a 'sauce' base under the other toppings. I get mine with fresh garlic as an extra topping. I think the Italians consider it a war crime.

There are 8 other districts in GA that currently have a Republican representative.
The 14th probably ain't changing any time soon. But we don't need that particular rep to caucus with us when there's still a pretty good chance of flipping _any two other seats_ and sending a 7-7 delegation to DC

![one 7 quart dutch oven. you might try this in a slow cooker but please note the total volume.
chili base -
. 1 28 can crushed tomatoes
. 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
. 1 15 oz can diced tomato
. Spices. This can be a chili kit. This can be like six packets of 'chili spices', cheap store brand.
In this particular case it is 4 of those store brand packets and then (freehand, but I can be heavy handed) amounts of minced garlic, chili flake, more chili powder, cayenne, and a 12 ounce container of fresh salsa that has like cilantro in it. [going back to check, it was a 16 oz container of Fresh Medium Pico de Gallo from the produce section of the local Kroger]
to the base, add -
. 2lbs 80/20 ground beef. I brown it off in a separate pan before adding it to the base
. six 15 oz cans of beans, drained and rinsed. As presented above, a mix of pinto, black, and kidney beans, two cans of each
. two packs of frozen veg. As presented above, two 12 oz packages of Kroger® Recipe Beginnings® Frozen 3 Pepper & Onion Blend (red green and yellow bell are the 3 peppers, so not super fancy or spicy but I like the little hits of color)
This batch was actually made last night after dinner. This is why I get so exasperated when people suggest SF written 50+ years ago as the place for new readers of the genre, especially young readers, to start with. There is SO MUCH that will throw them out of the work, from outdated tech to outdated social structures. They'll leave and not come back.
