Austin has many more people working downtown than in 2000 when we already had enough to justify light rail. The vacancy rate is high because a ton of new buildings just finished. Don’t listen to suburbanite boomers who have no clue.

This is the kind of 'social spending' that's a complete waste; paying a consultant to produce a plan to pay people supposedly being 'displaced' and the end cost of all of this is worse for 'displacement' than just letting more things get built more easily at the start.

Went home the long way early to take my last meeting from home and encountered two vehicles in the temporary bikeway detour, neither one with a good excuse but I especially expected @CapMetroATX to know better.

The only thing truly permanent is Jarrett Walker making a living by peddling an attractive falsehood for money to transit agencies desperate to believe it (that buses can attract choice commuters as well as trains can)

Painted bike lanes (unprotected) are by far the best choice for a bike facility on most US streets where a bike facility would be merited at all.

In my experience, cyclists who act this way effectively create their own dangerous conditions and then say and apparently believe things like "drivers are always trying to kill me".
