Every time I run across this idea I think of @drhastings.bsky.social's depiction of purgatory as a restaurant where your sins are dishes that you wait for an eternity to be served.

There's a story that as a WWI POW William Stephenson stole a clamp-style opener that was only patented in Germany and copied the design in England after the war (his biographer said he refused to talk about it).
Later, he was the inspiration for James Bond.
