I worry that if we just hold onto a brave face then our allies will forget the stakes. It's fucking hard to be trans right now. As much as i want to hold onto my optimism, I think it's for the good of all of us to break kayfabe every now and then and vent.

Recently another trans person said in a groupchat that "the holiest day in the trans calendar is a funeral". A cis friend of mine who i was sat next to showed it to me as if it was a one liner. A snappy punchline rather than a heartbreakingly succinct description of the current mood of the community

I don't want to be all misery ahout TDoR, it's an important day and I'm glad it exists. I have taken to calling myself a relentless optimist and that remains mostly true, but i just needed to be a bit emo this year.

I wrote this on the Eurostar back from Paris on Sunday, crying. I was in a dark mood already, upset at the end of a fantastic trip. Since then I've been trying to find a more optimistic ending, but nothing arrived.

Ultimately, though, a win is a win and I do have to give that W to BS

I want to thank @stjv.fr for arranging the event that brought me out there, everyone who attended for refueling the fire inside me, and especially @halfmomentum.bsky.social for lighting the flare that gave me my new favourite photos

and it is worth remembering that he had a team of professionals managing his social media for him. He is a great politician and an incredible orator, but that does not necessarily translate into a strong social media presence on its own. He worked with highly skilled specialists and it worked.

I suppose to an extent they weren't wrong, but it felt like a 6 year old trying to decipher a dissertation. I think what Mamdani's team did represents a huge step forward in the use of social media in a political campaign and we're going to see people try and fail to emulate it for years to come.

I attended the Your Party Brighton regional assembly recently (an incredibly uninspiring event) and we were discussing how Mamdani built up such a strong base of support. Somebody who must have been at least in their 50's said it was because of him engaging the youth through social media.

People in the replies to the original Tweet were describing meme-usage as infantalising and I think that's a great way of describing it. If you're pitching me on how to fix the rent crisis while simultaneously posting sick memes then I'm not going to feel like you respect me.

This is no laughing matter, that exact thing happened to me once

Just seen this, I believe they did actually print out 220 copies of the letter
