I'm not saying the Goo Goo Dolls are the GREATEST band to succeed with the formula: "What if The Replacements, but not fame-averse dysfunctional fuck-ups?" But for a good chunk of their career, they were a pretty good one. I'll probably be at this Halifax show, won't lie.

It's perhaps not surprising that Disney would push the Beatles Anthology in a manner akin to a new series — even releasing the episodes in batches! — but it's still a bit strange to me given that, minus one new episode, it's all 30 years old!

Got these photos taken on opening day, when the photo studio at work was amazingly colour aligned for the occasion. Never in a million years thought that, seven months later, the team would be a win away from a World Series title.

Back to back pitches, nearly identical spots, and the worse pitch gets the strike call — with the ump show delay of the call just to mess everyone up.

Watching some umps this postseason make one last gasp of showboating before ABS challenges come in is truly frustrating.

30 years of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness today. A little bloated? Sure. Less cool than the early records? Sure. But when I was a teenager this is the sort of ambitious excess that excited me most. Dare I say it’s almost underrated now? 👀

A lot of obvious songs to get to. A few turns that are a bit more personal. Three live takes I consider essential (even if their long run times meant fewer songs). And structured roughly like a Springsteen show would be in dynamics (just half the length).

So in '92 the Jays were feted at both the White House (under GHW Bush) and Rideau Hall. I can't seem to recall or find any evidence that Clinton's White House extended an invite to the '93 team, however. ('92 may have just been a reflection of how much Bush loved ball.)

Walking around campus in my baseball business casual outfit getting “Go Jays!” cries from young people who weren’t even born in ‘92 and ‘93. Feels good.

A system in which THIS MANY people who bought tickets an hour and a half ago can immediately flip them for profit is a system whose only justification is capitalist excess. (This is game six at the moment.)

If you’re near the ol’ radio box (or any digital radio box), I’m going to be on CBC Information Morning at around 8:15 or so to talk about Bruce Springsteen. Tune in!

Are the pre-requisites to get home plate seats for the Jays now just a) be Geddy Lee, or b) have giant bulging muscles?!

Me, the last time the Jays played in game 1 of the ALDS. Hoping for a similarly great result this afternoon!

Spent the weekend reading two very different books about music, work, and living by two very different people and found them both equally inspiring in very different ways.
