It was not cancelled “on demand” as I understand it the contracts expired and the insurer decided not to renew. Not because of an unusual natural issue but because the whole area is now prone to constant disasters. I get we need to help people. But let’s help them move.

Property insurance is a straightforward business. Contract lasts for x time only. I’m sympathetic to homeowners but either government should do the insuring or encourage people to leave untenable places.

So private industry is just required to stay in objectively bad situations and continue to lose money? Keep building on shorelines, in flood zones on faults? If they want to encourage people to ignore climate change that’s a way to do it. Or is it just for existing homeowners?

Y’all thought this was fine when it was happening in Florida. If you are living in an uninsurable place it’s on you. Feels unfair because CA is actually fighting climate change but ya know, it makes sense.

The SEC wouldn’t bring this case against anyone because 4 months in the stock market is a lifetime. Also, stop if I’m wrong but isn’t she retired? Not active in Congress? What is the point here?
