I guess I don't read it that way. It's maybe a little curt, but I don't think it reads as "against our wishes, our staff has demanded we close" but who knows, I've had many drinks tonight

I've seen several businesses frame it this way, mostly in the service industry. It makes sense that they would solicit their staff's input prior to making the decision to close for a Friday & that they don't want any uninformed "way to screw over your employees who rely on that shift" blowback
