Political & cultural history & memory, national identity. Lots on sport, food & travel. Some disability stuff. Polish/Polski speaker. Views my own.
Some really fascinating materials dating back to the early days of The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital.

The Stanmore site dates to the 1930s & is the UK's first example of a fully accessible site for didabled people.

The ad for the Crippled Boys Training College is especially interesting.

Choose your moron

This is a great exchange for demonstrating how a little knowledge can be misused & abused

This is an excellent corrective to the nonsense spouted by both the government & right wing social media

Cuts to Motability do not save any money, because people still recieve the same PiP

Users pay deposits with their own money & then lose a proportion of their monthly benefit to pay for the cars

The maddest post of the week has just been won & it's not even a contest.

Genuinely impressive set of ideas on show here.

The one week it'd actually be quite interesting to have Reform on the Question Time panel & they're not there

Never thought it would be possible, but I just found an even worse historical take than the one in the video.

I think this was my biggest issue with the series. Using the past to illustrate & talk about the present is nothing new, but it felt as if doing so both lost the history & skewed it to make it fit modern talking points

This bit is especially stupid, but highlights something I think is pretty unique to history. Is there another academic subject to which such emotional attachment is applied? Not just superceding facts, but the whole idea it's about judging good & evil in the past.

I can't remember the last time I watched something which made my brain hurt so much.

It's a decision based at least partly on the image & perception of the cars in question.

Those makes are seen as luxury products, yet it is still possible to get a similarly priced top of the range Citroën through Motability.

Perhaps, or perhaps there are some for whom Hitler's name doesn't resonate in the same way as it does in Europe & North America

There's an interesting question in why that's the case, perhaps it's because he is seen as an enemy of former imperial Western powers

There's Hitler ice cream, after all

Oh look, another member of Reform comes out in favour of Russia.

This is all my X feed is now. Paid for Russian stooges distorting reality.

It's actually a very well written & researched article which doesn't pull any punches & takes in a multitude of factors, including good domestic governance & choices.

While it doesn't talk about EU membership a lot, it does mention funding as a major contributor.

It's nice the author thinks these are imported traits

Another article on the rapid development of Poland & the surpassing of the UK. This time it's a comparison between the twinned Gliwice & Darlington.

Time to learn Silesian, I think.

Interesting point made about the US's so-called peace plan for Ukraine-Russia by @stuartdowell.bsky.social over at the other place.

I wonder whether anyone else has seen this & come to the same conclusion.

Perhaps Nathan Gill can put in a word
