3 singing males heard yesterday
A record six male Corncrakes have been recorded on Rathlin Island this breeding season, marking a significant milestone in conservation efforts for the species:
Bumper number of Corncrakes recorded on Rathlin Island
Six male Corncrakes have been recorded on Rathlin Island, Co Antrim, representing the highest count in recent memory. The increase is credited to RSPB NI's long-running habitat restoration project, which provides early cover using nettles. Conservationists hope to reach 10 singing males as efforts to protect the endangered species continue.
