Gonna read all WaPo editorial board “musings” in Andy Rooney’s voice until they stop focusing on personal liberties and free markets

Did they just train an AI on old Andy Rooney bits and put it on the editorial board?

There seems to be a related idea that Shame is inferior to repair, and that repair demands patience and graciousness

My mom used to tell me about going to see The Who in concert while playing Who’s Next in the tape deck, so I was always a bigger fan of The Who than the Beatles, who my dad made me listen to over and over without asking what I wanted to listen to

Man. How I would have stared at those shears.
November 22, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Tell him you’re going to bring your own just to see if he’ll sharpen his because he’s insulted
November 22, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I spend two or three very zen hours sharpening all my knives on a whetstone and watching whatever college basketball game is on after putting the dry-brined, spatchcocked bird in the fridge on the Tuesday before t-day, saying “I dulled the knife and shears spatchcocking the bird” as an excuse

True, but if you’re only returning to the status quo ante, the threat isn’t that dire

Any reclamation of congressional power will likely need a movement and the types of alternate process or automatic triggers you’re referring to (reauthorization by a 2/3 vote every 90 days or the power reverts, for example)
November 21, 2025 at 5:57 AM
*sufficiently*
November 21, 2025 at 5:18 AM
Sure. But it also holds that a succinctly bold Congress (I know I know) would be able to rebalance the scales
November 21, 2025 at 5:18 AM
How much of this is Congress being sidelined and how much is Congress ceding powers to the executive in ways that make it difficult to ratchet back?

Why can’t we be both pro-economy and anti-Dash DNS opinions?
November 20, 2025 at 8:58 PM
Apparently we need to “find new markets”
November 12, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Brutal. I believe it though

*Gulps* If only the electorate were as wise as NFL owners

This is a major driver of “the science of reading” — to rebuke and debunk this type of reading ‘instruction.’ But you will find people accusing The science of reading of being a fad, too.

You’re right there are tons of people like this who are famous on TikTok/reels but most of them either make cool stuff for their families or tell jokes. We just need them to Run for Something
November 11, 2025 at 2:52 PM
We definitely have enough of those dudes for an anthology series. And those are just the (in)famous ones
November 11, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Yes the cicada example but also this is the real world version of a college paper’s annual first year journo’s articles about “new” phenomena, whether it’s people making out in the library stacks or whatever else.

They would probably just demand access to our pools, get fruit on demand, and insist we let them ride us from time to time. Seems reasonable enough.

I’m in a correspondence class so it’s slow going
