For the second time in as many weeks, federal immigration officers created chaos in our streets. While we cannot control their actions, we must not let ICE fracture the trust that we built together. We are conducting a full review of every use of force by our officers today.

Saint Paul is ready to act on day one when preemption is lifted. Our ordinance represents a collective effort to address gun violence. It’s time for state leaders to meet us in this moment of urgency and safeguard the future our children deserve.

Saint Paul, Imnížaska, meaning “white cliffs,” resides on the sacred homelands of the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples. They shape who our community is today. During Native American Heritage Month, we honor these truths through preservation, reconciliation, and shared stewardship of the land we call home.

We’re aware ICE and other federal agents are in the Twin Cities ahead of Kristi Noem’s speech today. Though we’re not aware of planned enforcement activity, I share your concerns. Reminder SPPD will not participate in immigration enforcement.

Stripping communities of federal emergency and preparedness funding to push a political agenda is unlawful and reckless. That’s why we joined Chicago and seven other cities in fighting to protect access to life-saving resources. In times of crisis, we deserve support, not threats.

Our first Common Cent sales tax road project is complete! Grand Avenue is safer and better than ever. Together, we’re building a 21st century Saint Paul—proud to be a city that invests in one another.

Local leaders in Minnesota are standing up—no longer accepting excuses and inaction when it comes to addressing the epidemic of gun violence. Together, we’re advancing local ordinances that protect our residents. The safety of our children, our families, and our neighborhoods is not up for debate.

Saint Paul resides on the ancestral lands of the Dakota and Ojibwe. It is known as Imníža Ska, or White Cliffs, and is part of Mni Sota Makoce—the land where the waters reflect the clouds. Recognizing Indigenous names honors their heritage, but true respect demands action. (1/2)

Our straw purchase lawsuit is going to trial. A judge ruled @ag.state.mn.us’s evidence is strong enough to take Fleet Farm to court for enabling straw gun purchases—weapons used in the horrific Truck Park mass shooting in 2021. (1/2)

I am deeply concerned workers were arrested on a Saint Paul job site today by masked agents who refused to identify themselves. This secretive, fear-driven enforcement has become a hallmark of the president’s approach. It has no place in our country.

This week, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from withholding critical grant dollars from Saint Paul and 10 other jurisdictions. The court affirmed what we’ve always known: a president cannot hold hostage funding to force compliance with a political agenda.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re reminded that each of us plays a role in making our city a home for all. We honor the culture, music, food, and community spirit our Hispanic neighbors share, and all the ways you shape Saint Paul in powerful ways.

The time for inaction is over. We are moving forward in Saint Paul with decisive action to prevent gun violence. Minnesotans support the common sense protections proposed in our ordinance—state law blocks them. The moment preemption is lifted, Saint Paul will be ready.

Today, mayors from across the Twin Cities joined our call for a state and federal ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It’s not time to do nothing. We ask of our lawmakers what every child in that school knew to do last week—take action. (1/2)

From prevailing wages and earned safe and such time, to $15 minimum wage and strong union partnerships, we’re putting workers first. They are the backbone of our shared prosperity. Together, let’s commit to creating workplaces where every person is valued. Happy Labor Day! (2/2)

Today we honor the generations of workers whose fight for fair wages, safe conditions, and dignity on the job built the foundation of our nation. Saint Paul is a proud pro-labor city, actively embedding policies that support living wages and workers’ rights. (1/2)
