A photo of a jumping spider hiding in the space between two wood planks on my deck. Its head has a white top, a dark brown band on the eyes and white pedipalps. It looks very cute. Might be Icius genra. A photo of a finger near a millipede to show how small it is. The background is bark. The millipede is very dark. Most likely from the Julida order. A picture of a longhorn beetle on top of a blade of grass. Its antennas are orange-brown and 1.5 times the size of its body. The elytras are grey with tiny spots and they have a black band on the third of it at the bottom. Species is Leiopus femoratus.

It’s a creature I made that looks like a fatter and squishier horse, except the ears are replaced by antennas and it has six legs. Top right : a study of the flehmen response in a horse (curling its upper lip and showing its teeth). On the right sideof the sketch, the bug horse imitating the normal horse. Top left : the bug horse held in an open palm. Under it, the creature is squishing itself like a seal while a finger boops its nose. Below, the bug horse stretches its neck the most it can. In the middle is shown the bug horse doing a big stretch, even stretching its mouthparts which can extend past the lips. Bottom right is a view of the creature with its mouthparts out and drooling. It often forgets to sets its parts back in after a good stretch. Bottom left : the bug horse places its mouthparts back inside. When its done, it smiles showing all of them in the usual position. Bottom middle : a tiny sketch of the bug horse half-body.

Red hoods

Coming back to 2021 again with this #illustration of a silly #harpy #flock in a pine forest. I like the #creature design, might rework it one day

I need to get more of that kind of book.
A guide book about insects containing pictures. This book is a reedition of "Guide photo des insectes | adultes, larves ou chrysalides" by Heiko Bellman. Translating the title, it means : "A photo guide of insects | adults, larvaes or chrysalis". This book is published by "Delachaux et Niestlé". The cover contains threes photos, a picture of a butterfly on top (Aglais io), a picture of a stag beetle on the bottom right (Lucanus cervus) and a picture of a demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens).
