People that are good at chess are playing a different game than people that aren't. They know what spaces are and aren't safe at a glance, their goal is to box someone in, meanwhile a newcomer is just trying to not step on the wrong space

Board-game like videogames are a bit different more often because they are an evolutionary step closer. Characters are represented better spatially, and sometimes a really complicated boardgame just benefits from the automation

I agree 99% of the time, except for balatro because that game does shit with cards that I would never want to do in real life
