Spikes care about lore too, I suspect. The power of telling/retelling a story with a card game is what originally turned me on to MTG. Let's explore the story of Alara to see why lore matters to a game and why MTG's lore in particualr stands on its own.

I can't wait to be back here asking for a Kona ban in less than two months! I said it on Rebelcast 59 and I'll say it again: We can't ban our way into a fun standard without paying attention to SET DESIGNS! Kona was a mistake. Omni was a mistake. Power scaling messes with the balance of competitive.

So I've delayed publishing this opinion because the majority of MTG creators and players play Best of One magic, but... this is unprecedented. WotC literally looked at Pioneer which is in a healthy place and made a decision based on Bo1 play patterns. The problem is Bo1 is run with hand smoothing.
