So why am I explaining all of this? I'm going to be posting screenshots of the circumnavigation as we go. Just thought any reader might like to know.
Not that I'm one for attending mass public events, but were I planning to go watch Sydney Harbour lit up by millions of bucks in fireworks, those plans would be scrapped now. Masses of fellow human beings are one thing, automatic weapons in private hands as "security"??? NO WAY!

Very seriously, at 24 years of age, surely this idiot MUST have known they ought not be driving??! Just how pissed was he to leave the road & hit a house FFS!!
Drink driver crashes car into the living room of a house in Melbourne's outer west - ABC News
A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital after crashing his car into a house in Kurunjang. He failed a breath test at the scene.

"immediately establish a Commonwealth Royal Commission into the rapid rise of antisemitism in Australia" in the wake of Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023"
I'm now starting to understand Zionism. Guiltless victimhood, selective reality, political manipulation. Critique of Israel is not antisemitism.
Families of Bondi victims call for federal royal commission - ABC News
Loved ones of those killed and injured in the Bondi Beach attack say rising antisemitism requires a "powerful national response", piling pressure on Anthony Albanese for a royal commission.

As I've stated recently, we all die. She was gorgeous in her day but should be remembered for her work on behalf of animal welfare.

There you go, the XMAS silliness is over with. Here's the last couple of days in the #round-australia-clockwise tour. #MSFS

Well I can only say that was painful #Ashes

Yes I'm in total agreement with Kerry O'Keefe, 2 day slog fests are not test cricket. There's bugger all entertainment in it for the cricket purist and that why purists prefer the long form of the game. Test of bat against ball & field. #Ashes

*sigh* test matches are not meant to run 2 days. This ruins the game in my opinion #Ashes

If this is bazball I fail to see the entertainment value #Ashes

More fresh asparagus for pickling. By far my favourite vegetable.

I fear the Australian cricket team is fast approaching that inevitable period of renewal when older faces must make way for newer, younger ones #Ashes

Finally the neighbour has finished making a racket with his electric mower. I look at my own patch of what passes for grass and think, "nah not today". It'll rain later today & give the straggly mess a growth spurt just to spite me.

That's part 2 of the Xmas shindig over with. Old family tales reiterated, aches and pains voiced, global woes bemoaned. Now it's test cricket, which in itself is unlikely to be restorative as a probable 2-day match. 6 days, change of calendar & we have to do it all again. There is more to this, yes?

Tonight's Sci-Fi movie of choice is "Event Horizon", a horror, sci-fi flick with all the action, but no real story. Watchable thanks to Laurence Fishburne & Sam Neill

It's not often I can look at anything and see an art form, but looking at dessert after lunch today, that's exactly what I saw. It all just looked right. Yes, I know...taste in my arse. It was delicious just the same.

Merry Xmas America. Some words from one of your own you might want to take to heart.

Well there ya go, Xmas done & dusted for another year. All the hooplah, energy not too mention MONEY, expended on a once-a-year feelgood festival that often leaves a lot of people not feeling very 'good' at all. Why we continue this nonsense escapes me, but continue we do. Not terribly smart are we?
December 25, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Two human beings and two dogs for Xmas day. The usual trimmings, ham, turkey, veges, drinks, desserts. A peaceful event (hopefully), a paddle in a pool and that's it done & dusted for another 12 months. Not my favourite time of year it has to be said.

On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

No I don't know where I'm going
But, I sure know where I've been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time, but here I go again
