Retired sportswriter, which now means I can analyze my Detroit Tigers, Florida Gators and attend the Indy 500 every May. Spent much of my life in radio stations. #AT40 #Tigers #Indy500 #UF
Now I can go to bed. Sorry to those who have to pay attention the rest of the game (and season). Those of us who were UF students during 0-10-1 feel your pain.

And Skeeter's was one of a kind. You could go in there at 3:30 a.m. and somebody would be playing live music. The servings were HUGE. I think Dock Luckie set the record for eating 5 or 6 Big Biscuits at one time. I still have a T-shirt somewhere.

I know the one in Alachua has been there forever. I called my roommate from there when my car broke down one night on I-75.

The original was on Waldo Road near NE 8th. The one my buddies and I haunted was on SW 13th across from the Quality Inn. That's been abandoned for quite some time. I'd stop at the one in Ocala on the way home from WMOP after my weekend shifts for garlic bread to go! 40 CENTS!

Yeah, something like that. That big shopping center at Archer and 34th was just being built when I graduated. That included the newest Sonny's in town. In fact, Oaks Mall was finished just when I started there. The center where Skeeter's was the only "big" mall back then. Geez, I'm dating myself.
