retired IBM engineer, reasonably decent home cook, very sad about the <Oakland> A's, it is wonderful to be alive
I love this part...I guess that makes it OK in his eyes?

the CDC also directly contradicts itself.

that's like saying a hydroelectric plant will be powered by water running downhill. there's no (present) alternative to 'Nvidia's computing chips' for an AI data center.

it's a little like 'be best'. fewer words, but still a powerful notion.

very nice...one thing that really stuck with me is the end of 'part1', then the caption '16 years later'...and you then see that pretty much nothing at all had changed. sobering to consider.

she didn't mean <her> daughter. she meant other people's daughters.

the tried and true, "...people are saying...". evergreen.

nice pull!
November 13, 2025 at 1:09 AM
well, all of us engaging with you here are most likely 'high information' citizens. only a couple of 10s of percent (if that) fit that category. what's an effective way to engage with 'everyone else' on these complicated fiascos (like this shutdown, which is pops and whistles to most people?)

wow, thank you so much! this was pretty convincing...

is that the TAR model (trillionaire above replacement)?
November 10, 2025 at 3:12 PM
OK...then what is the negotiation to end the shutdown? 'Stop that lawless authoritarianism'? The problem with any minority party tactic is that in the end, they don't have the votes. I don't like how this all happened (like everyone else!), but it has been clarified that Repub. own the ACA debacle.
November 10, 2025 at 2:59 PM
Republicans are not insulated, they own the ripup of the ACA, which is going to affect millions of people. Democrats do not have the votes to restore funding to the ACA (yet). It is a long game, unfortunately.
November 10, 2025 at 1:07 PM
Do Democrats have the votes to pass a budget with ACA credits, including enough to override a Trump veto? No they don't. In fact, they are the minority party in the house and senate. (Amazing that this needs to be said.) Let Republicans continue to own this destruction of the ACA, it's their issue.

axios. often a poor source.

I'm sorry to report that this 'article' is actually a dialogue between two anti-feminist women about why their version of anti-feminism is the correct one. R.Douhat is simply the moderator. don't ask me to explain their stances, their sentances are nearly impossible to parse. I gave up halfway.
