Last I checked you don't need electricity to burn charcoal

Always noticed that too lol

It's possible to do international/private bonds too.
January 21, 2026 at 12:53 AM
I tapped out at the end of October and yeeted 70% into bonds/commodities, I was not enjoying Trump's wild ride, but even more than that I think AI in its current iteration is just dumping money into a black hole and fully expect it all to unravel.

Can confirm, after working the Harris Teeter Deli for a year I couldn't eat rotisserie chickens for 5 years.
January 17, 2026 at 2:36 AM
Do you think it's unlikely that Trump is negotiating a "everyone gets their own backyards" deal and he's too demented to keep it quiet until it's done?

And I will draw this line: anyone who chooses facism over functional social democracy is just a fascist. Mask off.
January 7, 2026 at 4:39 AM
No one is saying exclude Centrists, but FDR was able to create a supermajority coalition, and it wasn't by being wishy washy and running to the center. Centrists are more than welcome to walk this path with us, but the Yglasias "slow down!" "What about!" Should have no place.
January 7, 2026 at 4:35 AM
Our levels of police militarization and violence makes other countries pale in comparison.
January 7, 2026 at 3:01 AM
It shocks me how readily people dismiss the policies of the most popular president of all time (FDR - scoreboard)
January 7, 2026 at 2:57 AM
Centrism in the face of fascism can't win. Stein and Williamson were never serious. We need unapologetic Mamdani/Sanders/FDR thought to recapture majorities.
January 7, 2026 at 2:56 AM
This is myopic, sorry. We're dealing with fascism about to capture everything, the mythical Liz Cheney centrists will not save us.
January 7, 2026 at 2:20 AM
This 1000%. They're going to whine about left wing purity testing, we need to refrain it as "effectiveness testing." Or something similar. Whatever rolls off the tongue best.

Metadata faceting!
December 18, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Ah ok, we agree then, they're being cowardly writers and relying too heavily on Tolkien to do their work for them.
December 9, 2025 at 11:12 PM
I'd be much more interested in one of two things: a wholly original story set during Aragorn's reign, or a movie about the war against Angmar, the long winter and Bullroarer Took. I think they're being lazy and uncreative.
December 9, 2025 at 11:10 PM
At the same level of fleshed out description with a narrative arc? I'd be curious what else would meet that bar. To be clear, I don't think there's much left un-mined in the rights they have, and this is scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel, and is a bad idea.
December 9, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Gotta be rights issues. The process of finding Gollum is probably the most robustly described chain of events that they have access to with a coherent narrative arc and not been shown on screen in any way.

The closer Douglas Adams analogue is Dirk Gently.
December 9, 2025 at 7:44 AM
Really coming down at a nice clip now.
December 5, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Dusting now.

Nothing yet in Glover Park.
December 5, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Even if Zohran gets nothing else done, stopping this cruelty is a massive win.
