American leaders are the ugly embodiment of a deeply repressed collective shadow. Agents are just that - agents. We are all human beings, overwhelmed by the terribleness of an archetypal evil we now cannot hide from. Whether celebrating this evil or disgusted by it, all of us have shadow work to do.

Eat This Scroll (for breakfast) is a video work I made today. Words are crumpled, tossed in a pail, burned to ash, mixed with water, eaten, and then used as a drawing medium. The meaning and medium are filtered and consumed, back into the means of mark-making.

Find the causes that break your heart, research the orgs that work to fix or alleviate those, and support them all the time. Monthly ongoing donations of any amount really matter. With that said, and as someone employed at a non-profit, this is a noisy and sucky e-mail day.

Back to painting places I love, and just finished this one. I'm trying to work fast and be not-precious about it. Image is from a backpacking trip in the Sierras from a couple of years ago; David tells me its looking south towards Alpine Col in Darwin Basin. That was a sweet place.

Finished this drawing today, getting reacquainted with some of the visual language I used in previous map drawings. Pastel offers lovely color, graphite for the mountain, conte for the linework, approx. 36" x 52"

If you are reading the news, weathering the storms of awfulness (for weather it we must), you may want to try a plugin for Firefox called 'detrumpify' - which replaces a certain name with an insult on any webpage. Can also swap images of said person with kittens. Screencaps below.
