I for one would love to thank Nintendo for shipping Wii Sports in a scratchy piece of cardboard. That one game alone will ensure I stay in the disc repair business until my final days.

LTTP, but Thank Goodness You're Here is absolute comedy magic. I've never wanted to backtrack more. Watching the running gags evolve is the best thing about it. I adore the little background jokes, especially this one

Got Arrow's Ninja Turtles 4K screeners. Doing a quick spot check - reviews next week - and it's GORGEOUS. Akin to Sony's Ghostbusters 4K. Lots of well managed grain and visible resolution gains. Looking good for a brief glimpse!

Context: Buster Keaton is speaking about a horse (Onyx) he was using on a movie shoot. The punny-punchline is absolutely worth it:

Nothing against the person who runs the show - I have no idea who they are - but if I search for Nightmare on Elm Street now, instead of the movies, I get this as a result, which is useless and nonsense.

I'll be the first one to shout aesthetics and style over realism, but there are times where you just have to step back, look at what video games can do and just...

Fuckin' A.

Playing this bootleg Final Fight 3 for the NES and it's... fantastic? Just a crazy good port for the hardware, although I have no idea if this employs anything special

Glad this critics quote clarified exactly what a movie titled "Bride Hard" is

Update when I asked PR about Arrow's upcoming UHD set. It's a relief!

Digging into the Making of Karateka finally and this is just marvelous stuff. Being able to switch the layers between the sprites, sketches, and original video is a fantastic idea (in addition to everything else in this package!)

Watching the original Korean cut now. Surprisingly, not much difference other than gobs of missing footage. I assume the subtitles are correct, so even the dialogue is basically the same as the dub

Here are shots of the Zaxxon port it's playing

Anyone spot what console/computer is in the background (circa '85-ish)? This is the clearest shot of it in The Stuff. There's a floppy drive and a joystick behind his head, but it's hard to see when the camera moves

Discs looking scratched? Cloudy? Generally sickly? I can fix that! ebay.us/m/UMRh5f

Got a deal on the first Prinny for PSP. While I HATE the jumping mechanics in these games, it holds up as a fun throwback action platform. The aesthetics and character designs are lovely

Today is the day I give up the dream of ever finding a US copy at a garage sale for $3, so this will have to do

Wife is playing Super Mario Odyssey and using assist mode, but I have no idea why it needs to say as much the entire time she's playing.

Just finished reading this (it's from 2010) and the final chapter is about the indie game revolution and how it's stamping out corporate influence in gaming. It's so upbeat about the medium. Different times.

Inspired by @retrogamerdaz.bsky.social playthrough, I popped in Air Combat which I never got too deep into. I started with Ace Combat 2 back in the day and never saw a need to go back. But, this one does have a distinctive arcade style that separates it

I watch older movies all the time. Different eras different standards. Most of it just passes over me as a slice of history. I can note the social/cultural attitudes, and move on. But every once in a while, you get a real humdinger...

For anyone curious, the new Jurassic Park 4K set is labeled "remastered" and that's, quite frankly, horseshit. They're the same masters wrapped in a Dolby Vision container rather than HDR. The Atmos mixes are the same as the DTS:X tracks from before.
