Going through a phase where if a YouTube vid—guitar repair, electronics tutorial, drunk-driving mom arrested on body cam—is AI-narrated, I hit that “don’t recommend this channel” button and never look back. Regardless of the destruction of the earth’s resources, AI’s quality just flat out SUCKS.

Here’s the thing: Republicans probably desperately WANT Gavin Newsom to be the Dem front runner. Know why? Because they’ve got his (insane) ex-wife Kimberly Guilfoyle just waiting in the wings to tell all. And I have a feeling there’s a lot to tell.

One of the things about getting older is you look back with regret about things you didn’t give their proper respect. I now realize that yes, indeed, new socks are a very desirable present.

By the way—what the hell ever happened with Dan Bongino?! One minute it was big news he was gonna quit over the Epstein stuff, didn’t show up for work, etc etc—then nothing. No news.

(I mean the “news” is he looks like an old school GI Joe doll styled by an erratic child, but)

Weird side note: before CBS, I also did script reading/story analysis for Renny Harlin/Geena Davis’ production company Midnight Sun, and I was chastised for NOT using compound sentences.

A depressing day to remember that in the mid- to late-90s I worked for both CBS & Paramount. I loved being on the lot at Paramount; later, as a freelance story analyst at CBS, I was told not to use compound sentences in my analysis b/c, I kid you not, “we don’t want the executives to have to think.”

Rewatched I CARE A LOT last night/this am, and I think it’s pretty exciting—great performances, cool photography/design (a strong sense of color), an interesting/alarming premise. But good GAWD I’ve never seen such wildly divisive reviews, pro and amateur. Interesting to see such a divide.

Adam Driver is EXCELLENT in it & he's equalled by Penelope Cruz. She's a treasure, a gorgeous actress who could've had a successful career as eye candy but instead turned out to be a fantastic artist. It's one of those films people will savor later. Maybe not now. But they will.

I always adore Michael Mann's movies, even when they're cold, showy, or a little self-important. FERRARI is none of those; it quietly might be his best film since THIEF (& I loved several since, like HEAT & THE INSIDER, others). It's a beautiful, thoughtful work of art. See it!

JIMMY CARTER.
Not dead, but nearing the end, and wow, for real, how we need a Jimmy Carter now. Not the greatest president, but unquestionably 1 of the greatest men ever to become president. It’s so rare to find someone who makes me proud to be a Southerner, but he’s the guy.
