Can't believe that it is a years since the Darlington Community Grocery opened.
I visited again today and heard about the activities and groups that are available there. After speaking with team members and volunteers, I cycled home with a rainbow in the sky.

“Tackling inequality is our core goal, because that is the best way to redress the power imbalance in our economy. The reason why people are feeling ripped-off right now is because their money is disappearing into the pockets of the super-wealthy.

“It is a political choice to keep children in poverty whilst billionaires and multi-millionaires get richer. That’s a fact, and any politician who says otherwise doesn’t have the public’s interests at heart."

75% of Brits said they would support a wealth tax of 1% on assets above £10m and 2% on assets above £1bn. This is the exact same wealth tax as that proposed by Zack Polanski’s Green Party, who themselves are enjoying a surge in the polls.

New figures: councils spent £2.8 billion on temporary accommodation for 2024/25 up 25% in a year

Private landlords are cashing in on this crisis

We can’t afford to ignore the need for genuinely affordable social homes – the only solution to the housing emergency.

House building slumps to lowest level since 2020 with job losses and falling confidence in Labour

It’s no surprise that house building is stalling when people can’t afford to save for deposits

This is the perfect time to replace the 1.4 million social homes lost since 1980

England's social housing has been allowed to dwindle away, with eight times more council homes being sold this year than were built.
Without action, we are consigning millions of households to being stuck on waiting lists and the burden of housing benefit continues to grow.

I loved the energy & passion from people

A good job, a good house & good friends make a good life

Resilient communities are the cornerstone. There are as many ways to enhance communities as there are challenges on their cohesion.

Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) promises many benefits
Faster delivery
Lower carbon
Higher quality & efficiency
Reduced site disruption

But with land value still driving financial decisions, government policy and planning systems lagging behind - these promises are not being delivered.

We’re going to need a bigger graph!

859 councillors, on 170 councils in England and Wales - another record.

But did you know we have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform!
