It continues to amaze me that I have this thing in my chest. It's a stent keeping my aorta nice and open; I have congenital heart defects, and the stent is helping out with that. (X-ray from Monday: it's been a week...).

Yesterday, near the back of the bus, just me and this one guy sitting behind me, and this guy was going on and on talking to himself or someone imagined or no one about how if everyone would use Irish. Spring. Soap. (he said it just like that, slowly, a separation between each word like he was […]

In a dream, a cute person said to me, "If I didn't have a cold, I'd kiss you." That was nice.

Another field recording on the escalators I take on the way to my office. This time, a practicing trombonist and, I imagine, some practicing crows. https://soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conroy/escalator-and-trombone-jan-2026

Today's field recording. Once again in the parking garage that I walk through on my way to my office. This time, someone is practicing their tuba. https://soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conroy/field-recording-escalator-with-tuba

Bike parts replacement time! My old rear derailleur guide pulley on the right and its brand-new replacement on the left (with the cute little twist-tie to hold its guts in). Sixteen years of wear, but it was shifting fine... Still, it's nice to replace worn […]
