Worth noting for schools or LAs who are looking at changing MIS. Bromcom have happily bullied schools in the past, but seem to struggle with providing a basic service

The team @secureschools.bsky.social are the best in the biz. This is a must read report.

So many schools duplicating software for no real reason other than piss poor planning or being scared to change fully.

One of the key areas seems to be safeguarding/classroom management/filtering. Unfortunately because the word safeguarding is involved it’s easy to be scared into buying things

Just shy of 13,000 students and teachers migrated into tenancies this summer, and 2,400 devices enrolled into Intune across 20 schools.

Total includes those moving into a central tenant and those fully adopting Intune and 365 for data storage.

Wow, what a week or so for @bromcom.bsky.social with their issues.

Feel for the team supporting, but it shouldn’t even be possible for an outage to go on that long without backup infrastructure or roll backs

Schools should be actively encouraged to have continuity plans for these kind of things.

After migrating some 8,500 thousand users this summer across over 20 schools - the best part is still the training and seeing everyone understand why we helped them move.

This. And also, done correctly - you should only need to do it when you are doing something you wouldn’t normally do.
Cyber security - the solutions that should be put in place are simple. The action of convincing people it’s a necessity is the difficult part.
“MFA is an inconvenience” - if it’s not in place and we become a victim of a cyber attack, that’s the inconvenience.

If you’ve gone back to a school this September and it’s still running Windows 10 - I’d have serious concerns, either they can’t afford to keep systems safe, or, they have someone telling them they are safe, when they clearly are not.

Or they just don’t care 🤷‍♂️

The news of Horner’s sacking was unexpected but I am afraid I just can’t have any respect for him after his lies. Sure, he has achieved some fantastic things - but at what cost to the team long term?

Also, notice how he didn’t thank drivers in his post?

On Tuesday I drove to @thorpepark.bsky.social - and was very pleased to just pull into a ev charging bay, and pay significantly less then I would at the services to charge - sure it took longer, but I didn’t care as I was on a roller coaster.

New from Ofsted: AI won't be inspected directly. But if students or staff are using it, leaders need to know how, why and what the impact is.

The biggest risk? Doing nothing.

Get to know the tools. Audit the risks. Take responsibility.

This morning I have a doctors appointment. I literally have no idea why. I’ve had all my regular ones, and this has been in my calendar for weeks, but I can’t find a message about it. Was about to write it off, and then doctors sent me a reminder. So who knows what it is for 🫣😂
