In the end, I'd say they are hitting a problem that gets lots of new indie devs - rather than focus on getting a core central foundation that feels fun and really good, then slowly expanding after, they are simply throwing in extra features to try to make the game better, and it's too much for them.

Yeah, I'd hate to call it lazy as there's obviously a good amount of effort put into it.

But it's clear they're trying to do too much with different assets and things they didn't create, and their focus is too spread out to be able to make it all feel cohesive and polished.
