Theres a thing in a Vonnegut book about how war movies always represented Germans as erudite intellectuals with posh accents and Americans as dumb assholes and I feel like Tarantino took that idea and ran with it lol

Yeah I think the degree to which air travel treats one like cattle now- which has always been somewhat true but has gotten intensified- makes it difficult to choose self respect over comfort
Also fully half the adults on some flights are either drunk or blazed or on some kind of pills

Gosh it is almost like the idea of insurance, a shared risk pool that addresses unlikely but catastrophic events to which most people will never be subject, doesn’t make any fucking sense for health insurance

I like the way you address del Toro’s sentimental streak- I experience it usually as humanity, as a form of love that cuts through his work to reassure the viewer that whatever they’re watching, the god of the world that’s been created is a kind one who cares about the people in it
