The House in the Cerulean Sea is great! I'm also oddly proud of my copy being a misprint (the pages are upside down to the cover).

That's been a hard question for me too. I used to force myself, but then I would also be faced with the issue of giving an honest review at the end. Now, I DNF but try to explain my reasoning if communication is open.

Reminds me of this one that I read earlier in the year. It focuses more on separating money from religion, but does have some political skewering too. I enjoyed it, but it is like a long rant.
