People underplay how devastating that crap is. People were laid out by it. It doesn't burn a bit, it burns like you're on fire. I only got a bit from the general cloud of it and it hurt.

I didn't think that you did, but, I don't think it's common knowledge how serious the injuries were. That's why I'm trying to take every opportunity to let people know that it wasn't that. They just pepper, sprayed and punched a few people. They were hitting people with blunt objects.

Ya, I didn't see the beating, but them dragging him back. I'm glad he didn't die. I was worried he might at the time. I read people got burned by fireworks. I saw tons of people hurt from thrown projectiles and mace.

People got badly burned by the fireworks. One person got their hand crushed. I saw a guy get brought back into the encampment after being beaten. He had a severe head injury, blood running down his face.

For sure, again I'm happy there is at least some momentum in the right direction, but again we can't just let this story die off no matter how much the City, The Times, The uni, and the pro-Israel crowd want to memory hole it.

He does good work. With the mainstream media becoming even more shit than usual we need to start making networks of newsletters and independent voices that can fill the gap.

No, I was at UCLA, museum of tolerance, and the march from earlier that year they maced.

When I told people I had nightmares about it I got mocked. They weren't there and the videos make it look way more tame than it was. It felt like more than 4 hours. I didn't leave until first light as I (correctly) believed they'd be out there waiting to jump people.

I've been in at least 100 large demonstrations. That was the bravest, best organized, and most successful effort at community defense I ever saw. It's been massively underappreciated, even in leftist and pro-Palestine circles.

I got there a few minutes after it started. That famous video of the firework going over the encampment barricade, I was the one with the camera in the green coat right in front. You can see me flinch. I felt the shockwave go through my body. It's seriously unreal to me no one died. Damn lucky.

Simultaneously Beverly Hills High was allowing this shit to fester as rampant Islamophobia. @acatwithnews.bsky.social wrote a good article on that. Several of those turds attacked the encampment. acwn.substack.com/p/multiple-s...
Multiple Sources Allege Widespread Discrimination at Beverly Hills High School
AWCN found dozens of sources including letters, students, parents, faculty, videos produced by the school and social media which allege or show a concerning level of bullying and an unsafe environment

I'm glad one might go down, but it should have been dozens. This wasn't their first rodeo either. I also got attacked at the Museum of Tolerance and maced at a march a few months before. I think Edan On went to Israel and joined the IOF. Fucking hell, imagine what he'd do there.
