Where do you get real hairpins? Is there some online specialty shop?

But the real crime was that he was the first opening act, and G. Love and Special Sauce was the second. No offense to any G.Love superfans, but it made for an oddly uneven concert experience.

It was 1994, when he was just starting to make his comeback/transition to his multi-genre style, and I wasn’t expecting it. A friend bought the tickets, and I hadn’t even looked at the opening acts until he was on stage, then I dug the ticket out of my pocket and stared at it in shock.

I actually looked at some demographics maps, and chose a neighborhood near majority nonwhite neighborhoods, thinking mostly I didn’t want my kid growing up in a 100% white school. It wasn’t until after we bought that I saw a map of the school boundary lines— they are absolutely wild.

Right? When we moved here, we had the option of being part of the white takeover of a gentrifying neighborhood, or living in a neighborhood that was historically white (and is still at least 90% white).
