We spent Waitangi Day at Waitangi.
Starting with a dawn karakia and ending with a 21 gun salute fired by the Royal New Zealand Navy.
What an awesome experience!
Such a great vibe.

Feeling rather full after judging my first barbeque competition of 2025 at Kumeū Hot Rod Festival.
5 categories (chicken, pork ribs, pork, lamb, beef brisket) judged today, and 30 teams competed. Some outstanding entries. Always learning, to perfect my barbeque skills.
Next is #Meatstock Hamilton.

"This quiche is gangster!"

Not a phrase I'd expect to hear coming from a young adult.
It clearly made his day (and mine!)

I took the next steps in my Mau Rākau journey today, shaping, sanding, waxing and adorning a rākau to my preferred length.

My goal is to become proficient so I can confidently use a taiaha in the next 12 months.

I'd love to hear te Reo Māori spoken more widely in social settings. Resources such as this is a great start.
What visual cues would make you comfortable giving it a go?

My first solar power generation yearly summary has dropped. So far our solar installation has wildly exceeded my expectations. We will be mostly off-grid next year.

Day 3.5 after a dental implant, and I'm getting innovative with eating soft foods, having moved off liquids sooner than expected...
No pain, except the massive hole in my bank account.
Face returning to normal size now.

Fabulous BBQ and Cocktails party with new friends from my wife's Pilates social group.
The ribs and pork belly burnt ends went down a treat.
Everyone loved the Pornstar Martinis with Tequila instead of Vodka.

Currently at 33000ft en route back to Aotearoa, after 2 fabulous days in Fiji for a work conference / party.
