Yes, proper infrastructure would really help. I always try not to cycle on roads where I would drive; but it's not always possible to avoid cars, and cycling amongst them is a bit cringe, sadly

I came to say this, bike fitness comes quick, but an e-bike is a really solid choice (and less sweaty)
