Actually wears a mask in public. I cosplay being a useful and competent human being. #AuDHD (he/him/his) 😷

“There are no jobs for dharma bums like you” —my father
At the Día de los Muertos festival in Redwood City today there are a whole bunch of evil orange man piñatas.

People REALLY seem to want to hit him in the face with a bat. And they clearly hope to teach their children to hit his face with bats.

I love seeing such good parenting. 🥰

Stopped at Yerba Buena Gardens on our way to No Kings San Francisco, and read our daughter some applicable quotes from MLK Jr there behind the fountain. Let’s go!

8 year old did her very first ninja competition this morning and got a perfect score. (You get one point for each obstacle completed). Best of all, this competition was mostly girls. Finally, a community she can feel a part of.

Bad things are happening globally, but good things still happen locally

Private school is expensive. As a product of the public school system, I HATE spending so much $$. But then I see this in my daughter’s classroom and realize that in 2025, private school might be the only safe place for young empathetic human beings.

THIS is how you make kids feel safe and included

I’m REALLY hoping this becomes a Dave (1993) scenario. To the Trump impersonator helping cover up whatever is happening: this is your time to shine.

On the plus side, they may have torn off our pride flag magnet, but they couldn’t take our screwed-on front license plate pride flag.

I support my LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters, and all those who fall anywhere in between those binaries. Whoever you are, you are respected and loved.

When road tripping all the way across the country, far from interstates, it’s so important to leave time in your schedule to discover and explore random Americana.

Detroit Lakes, MN, we loved you.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is as pretty as advertised. And pasties on the U.P. are delicious #roadtrip

We’re prepping for yet another month-long journey across the country, camping and seeing the sights. We’ve done this before. This is #6 for me, #4 for my wife, and #2 for the 8-year old.

Still using the same 1998 Road Atlas that I bought for my very first road trip after college to plan the drive.

I’m a big fan (no pun intended) of @cleanairkits.bsky.social and their Luggables line. I have 3 XL size. Same concept, but with a handle on the top to make it easier to move to another room. Plus their optional mesh covers protect the filters from our cats (and catch much of the cat hair)

Everywhere you look the news is bad, so here’s a timeline cleanse:

my 8-year old is at the rock gym today, rocking a black Zimi KN95 respirator as she boulders across a pride month rainbow.

The kids are gonna be all right.

That idiot would never want to reopen Alcatraz if he realized it included a library

I’m no, did Amazon recommend this to you, too? Hubris of mankind, right here.

For the record, these National
monuments truly are as ethereal as they look. I had a chance to visit them back in 2014, before the bad man started destroying everything, and will never forget them.

Cancelling National Parks and National Monuments is a travesty.

If you’re #AuDHD like me, you might also create a spreadsheet that acts as your own personal free Turbo Tax. Again, NOT hard.

And once you do it once, you just have to perform minor updates each year going forward to accommodate changes in tax law.

Leaving on vacation tomorrow and bringing a feel-good book to read while I avoid my usual doomscrolling

Of course, if you’re heading into the hospital to help mommy with a surgery, you should always stop to give support to the other patients

7-yr old salting the vibes while getting her hair cut today. Zimi mask, size small, ear-loop variety.

Storm created an ice dam on the roof, backing up snowmelt so it went under the shingles and leaked into our bedroom.

Old 5gal bucket under a running hot sink, old sump pump connected to a hose, and I fixed the problem (for now).

Holy #*% that was cold. I got soaked in the process, but it worked!!

Sent my daughter off to war today. May god have mercy on her soul.

(Her parkour school is having a 4-hour Nerf war this morning in the gym with all the parkour obstacles. How freaking cool is that??)

I can already hear the quips Sweetums makes when someone asks “Aren’t you supposed to have only ONE eye?”
